| Our Need to
Accommodate God's Calling
No one who is a part of the SS. Peter &
Paul Lutheran Church family can deny that God has done and is doing something
very special in our midst. The last number of years have seen growth that
is unprecedented in our 140 year history.
Such growth is wonderful, but our growing
family and opportunities in the church are stretching our means to accommodate
ministry and programs to bring others to Christ.
Our beloved, historic sanctuary has served
our congregation well for these 140 years, but it is inadequate to meet
even our current needs and will not allow us to realize the sustained growth
and expansion that we believe is God’s will for the future. We can no longer
do what we need to do or what God’s will may call us to do with our present
space.
Consider these things that limit our ability
to adequately maintain and to grow our ministry to our community:
-
Our sanctuary has insufficient seating for
well-attended worship services.
-
The Sunday School facilities are extremely
cramped and inadequate for instruction.
-
Our fellowship facility and kitchen is too
small for many uses.
-
Meeting space is limited for growing programs.
-
We have inadequate youth facilities to minister
to young people.
-
Our office space is not sufficient for efficient
operation or future growth.
-
Our restroom situation is difficult for the
elderly or handicapped individuals.
-
Nursery facilities are lacking in many aspects
of proper childcare.
-
Building maintenance and inefficient utility
bills are very costly.
We need our people to grow along with
our church. We need our sense of commitment to grow along with our ministries.
We need each person to discover his or her own calling, his or her own
part, within the calling of the church. We need you and what only you can
do to begin this journey of faith. We need a congregation full of faithful
disciples who are willing to share the vision of On Holy Ground for
the ministry of today and for future generations of fellow Christians.
